CLASS 7 - Good Advice

My mother once told me that "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission." What is one piece of good advice that you've received from a parent (or another older relative or role model)?

Kelly, I bet your mother is being humble when she says she doesn't want you to end up like her. Fact is, parents usually DO want their kids to do better than them, but they probably know that there are lots of things they're doing right that they'd like to see their children emulate. Mr. Rolapp is right. Many moons ago, I drove off with the gas pump still in my car. Luckily, the man working at the gas station let me go without paying the fine; I think he figured that I would never be able to pay it! One word of advice that my mother has always said is "Life is not fair." Her words still ring in my head when I pull up to a fancy car, or go window shopping with friends, or receive my monthly checking account statement. Instead of worrying about where you stand in terms of others, I think it is more important to worry about where you stand and where you want to go.
