Assignment for October 10th

Dear Students,

Sorry! I've been pulled away today for an urgent school matter. In my absence, please do the following:

1) Search the web for colleges. You can use any search engine you want, but I recommend the "Custom Finder" provided by U.S. News Colleges (scroll down on the page to where it says "EZ Finder," then look right). You can search based on a number of criteria including location, majors, and cost of attendance.

2) Find at least three colleges that catch your attention.

3) Comment to this posting, listing the three colleges you've chosen. For each college, state the following:

- why you think this school is a good match for you.
- what are some of the potential problems with you attending this school?
- what do you have to be doing right now in order for you to attend this school?

4) For extra credit, figure out how to include hyperlinks to these colleges' main websites.

Good luck!

I like Kingsboro college--it has cool people and it has a lot of majors. The bad thing is that its a junior college. I just have to pass my classes to go there

cornell- im not sure that i like it, but it sounds interesting.its far, so i need a car.

SUNY-- theres one thats upstate, and it offers majors in meteorology. Thats the major that i want. I also need a car for driving here. the good thing is that i can meet new people and find out other places.

Dear Students,

What about looking at schools outside of New York City? Sometimes colleges in other states can be less expensive than colleges in New York. They become even less expensive once you have earned residency in that state. Broaden your search engines and see if, perhaps, there are schools out there that you never would have considered. Another thing to consider is cost of living. If you are not planning on living with your parents, consider schools that offer affordable housing. Lastly, study, study, study for your SATs and ACTs - a high score on these tests can open doors to more schools.
