The setting is 1920's and it is Gatsby's house. He uses the setting to contribute to the theme's because there's a party going on and peope are drinking and it shows how people disobeyed the laws. It contributes to the various characterizations because it shows how each character exactly is.

In some parts in chapter three the tone is scared or like freaked out and in other parts it is like excited or surprised. One quote that shows a scared tone is on page 29, the quote is "Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once." A quote that shows excitement is on page 32, "What!" I exclaimed. "Oh, I beg your pardon." One quote that shows the lady is surprised is on a page 33, "With me?"

i chose to talk about the characterization on chapter three.Mr. Gatsby is a very entelligent man.He is very kind to the ladies and he is hansom sooo they say.He is very clever and he is known to many people in the party.Especially to jordan and her freinds she was talking about him she informed them that she was told tha Mr.gatsby was convicted of killing someone but they just could not believe that because of Gatsby charm with people they could not get passed it.I really liked chapter three because it took place in a party and everyone was having a good time!!!!!!It kept me interested!!!its adriana

I bealive that in chapter 3 the tone is happy and energetic. The reason is because of how the author describes the party's atmosphere. With the music and all the people. The qoute i cose were,

-There was music from my neighbour's house through the summer nights.

-'Do you come to these parties often?'

I pick the setting...It was during the 1920s
The first setting was in Nicks house. The second one was in Gatsbys house. There was happiness in the house and there was a party. It looks like Gatsby is a popular person around his area and people that he doesnt know end up there. The mystery is that Gatsby didnt invite somebody personally.

In chapter three the yone was joyful. Its because of how the chapter starts,"There was music from my neighbours's house through the summer nights."So it showz they had a good time.At some parts of the chapter it showz fear and that they were scared like in page 29. It says."Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once."

Characterization

I would say Fitzgerald describes Gatsby as a dreamer. Gatsby is always thinking and wondering. He pays close attention to almost everything. I watched his guests diving from the tower of his raft, or taking the sun on the hot sand of his beach while his two motorboats slit the waters of the Sound, drawing aquaplanes over cataracts of foam."
I don't think Gatsby is well dressed. And he's not too social. He speaks when he's asked. I wouldn't call him adventurous either.

"In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the wispering and the champagne and the stars." This sounds like a social gathring."Every Friday five crates of oranges and lemons arrived from o fruieter in N.Y." THIS SOUNDS LIKE SOME TYPE OF ROMANTIC PREPERATION FOR A SPECIAL PERSON.
