GENERAL - Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Both Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are well-known Civil Rights activists. But that's not all they have in common. Do some quicjk web research to find at least five things they have in common (really, at least FIVE, count 'em!). Then find five other things that they do not have in common. Once you've listed your ten items, then I want you to make an evaluation: which of the two, Malcolm X or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., had a more lasting effect on the world? Why?

Malcolm X and Martin Luther King are both remembered as
leaders who fought for a difference in black America. Both
tried to bring hope to blacks in the United States. They
also tried to instil within blacks power and strength so
they could rise above all the hatred that surrounded them,
but both of them had very different ways of promoting their
message. Malcolm X had a much more extremist approach. Many
say that this approach came from his neglectful childhood
and early adulthood. King had a much more calm approach.
Some have said that this non-violent approach came from his
safe, middle-class environment. Even though they were
different in addressing their messages about black respect
and pride, they both had the same goal in mind. That goal
was to achieve equality between all races.

They both fought for thier beliefs.

They were both the youngest of thier family.

I think that Martin Luther KIng Jr. had the greatest impact because he was the one that actually started and ended everything, He made sure people listened to him, and he stoped racism ,well the majority of it.

The similarities between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King is that they both wanted their race to be treated with respect and not hate. They both made big civil rights movements. They both wanted to make a big change in the world and they were born around the same year. They would speak publicly about what the white people were doing to the black people and how hey should start to take some action. Their differences was that Malcolm X was in the Nation of Islam and Martin Luther King was Christian. Malcolm X was more militant, but MLK was more peaceful.
